Nowadays you see the fluorescent lighting, energy saving CFL light bulbs and lamps, everywhere. They are outdoor and indoor lighting sources and save a lot of energy. The fluorescent lights are a third era light source and the follow up of the fluorescent light tubes (the first era light source are the incandescent lights).

The fluorescent lights save up to 80% of energy in comparison to the incandescent lights and produce 50 lumens per watt, the incandescent lights produce 10 lumens per watt. That means they produce with less energy more lumens, that is why they are called energy savers.

Also the lifetime is much higher than incandescent lights, it is more than 8000 hours, which is up to 8 times higher.
